My name is Burak, and I'm delighted to welcome you onboard my adventure in discovering how to be healthy. In this journey I hope to share with you not only my culinary discoveries, but also my epiphanies on how to eat healthy on a budget, be savvy, and save time. I'll also be looking into scientific evidence supporting decisions I make regarding my diet and lifestyle. I will share with you the challenges of juggling healthy eating with children and a partner who is not strictly vegan. I hope you will embark with me on this journey.Anyway... a little bit about me.
Thought aged 32, I am happily married with two beautiful children, I have always had a complicated relationship with food. All my life I have been on the cusp of being morbidly obese, desperately trying to lose weight, become healthy and active. At times I have been successful, but the success has always been short lived.
A few months ago, my wife gave birth to our second child, and as I held him in my arms, excited about the years to come, I was now determined to make sure I could stick around for as long as possible. It was at that moment that I decided that it was time to change things for good.
Following on, I started doing research to figure out what I should be doing. There are so many "diets" around that one can find themselves overwhelmed with options. After much consideration, I decided to opt for a plant-based diet. And so here we are...
But with an older boy who is now 4, and a mother who is breastfeeding, it isn't actually as straightforward as one might think...
